Mighty Blackpool was founded in 1923, under the name Socro United. This was the first of many name changes untill it's permanent name in 1953.

The Name, Mighty Blackpool
Sir Stanley Matthews turned in one of the great performances of the FA Cup in the 1953 final. It’s believed that the decision to name the team Mighty Blackpool was made following Matthews’ brilliant performance in the final.

Champions of the Western Area
Mighty Blackpool, are Champions of the Western Area for the first time in their history. A competition which took place from 1923-1980.

Mighty Blackpool captures it’s first Sierra Leone FA Cup!

First National Championship
Mighty Blackpool was crowned Chapions of Sierra Leone for the first time in 1968.

CAF Quater-Finals
In 1989 Mighty Blackpool reached the quarter-final stages of the African Cup of Champions Clubs; the first time a club from Sierra Leone had reached that stage. In the first round they beat reigning champions ES Sétif from Algeria and on the second round beat Djoliba Athletic Club from Mali, before losing to Tonnerre Yaounde from Cameroon in the quarter finals.
